School trips: why every child should carry a QR safety card

October 5, 2026

School trips are a wonderful part of growing up, and teachers plan them carefully. Still, in a busy museum, zoo or station, a child can get separated from the group in a moment. A simple safety card means any helpful adult can reach the right person fast.

What a school trip safety card does

The child wears the card on a lanyard or carries it in a pocket. If they're lost, a staff member or another parent scans the QR code and can call the teacher straight away. The contact details are stored inside the code, so it works offline.

What to include

  • The child's first name and class
  • The trip name and date, and the meeting point
  • The lead teacher's name and phone, plus a second teacher's phone
  • Optionally a parent phone and an essential allergy or medical note
  • A clear message: "If I'm lost, please scan me"

What to leave off

Never put a child's full name, home address or school address on the card. Include only what a helper needs to reunite them with the group.
